Working with Chinese dietary therapy alongside acupuncture and/or tui na I have seen significant weight loss on a variety of people. The body is not denied nutrients as with some diets, but instead specific foods are identified which be problematic for you, and others which will be helpful, and the daily diet is adjusted with this in mind. This 'tilt' of the diet, along with other general guidelines, provides a way of altering the diet without resorting to drastic measures or counting calories.

Traditional acupuncture and/or tui na treatment helps to strengthen and regulate the metabolism and digestion and works to address any underlying issues that are preventing you from losing weight, leading to safe and natural weight loss which is sustained after the treatment is stopped. For instance, according to Chinese medicine, fat is seen is a manifestation of 'Dampness' in the body, due to a weak digestive system. Special acupuncture or Tui Na treatments are able to 'stoke the digestive fire' and improve the functioning of the entire system, leading to a natural reduction in weight.

Working with the integrated approach to Chinese Medicine, we can arrive together at a plan that is practical and which suits you. Nutritional advice (dietary therapy) and acupuncture and/or tui na will form the basis of the treatment, and you may also be recommended Qi Gong breathing exercises or herbal supplements if appropriate in order to complete the treatment plan. In this way the entire body is considered together, and the treatment comes from more than 1 angle. This leads to much better results than just a diet on its own.
