Qigong (Chi Kung)

Qi Gong Bristol & S WalesQigong (or 'chi kung' ) is an ancient Chinese health exercise. It has many benefits, including stress reduction, better posture, improved circulation and increased body-awareness.

Regular Qigong practice can benefit many conditions by regulating the Qi, leading to a calmer, more balanced outlook, and improved overall health and well-being on all levels.

1 On 1 Training

Training is available in 2 different Qi Gong practices, both used for maintaining health and well-being and preventing illness.

Standing Qi Gong / Qi Ball :

The practice of the 'Qi Ball' is common to almost all styles of Qi Gong and Tai Chi. In this practice, ball shapes are created with the arms and hands. There are some static postures, and some moving techniques.

This practice is very effective for learning to feel the Qi sensation in the hands. It is also a grounding and calming practice, which helps to strengthen the Qi. With regular practice, it greatly enhances overall relaxation and well-being.

Anmo Gong / Self-Tuina :

Anmo Gong or Self-Tuina uses the channels (meridians) and acupoints. It is a way of using self-acupressure and other techniques to stimulate acupoints and work with the Qi flow in the body. This is combined with breathing and stretching to provide a balancing and strengthening self-treatment.

This rarely taught art can be used as a 'warm-up' before tai chi, qi gong, or other exercises, or as a health promoting daily practice. It is very enjoyable, and easy to perform.

Anmo Gong can also be tailored to the individual constitution or condition, using specific points and channels in a similar way to an acupuncturist or tui na practitioner. In a 1-to-1 session, you can learn specific techniques and routines to suit your individual constitution and health.

Who can learn Qi Gong?

Both the Qi Ball and Anmo Gong practices are suitable for any age and level of fitness. All techniques can be adapted to be performed sitting or lying, if required. Daily practice at home is very beneficial, but does not have to be time consuming.

Qi Gong practice is one of the most effective of the Chinese Health Arts for maintaining health, and preventing illness and is also of great help to those undergoing either conventional or complementary treatment.

Group Training

Neil is available for 1 off or regular training sessions for individuals or groups. Significant discounts are available for groups of any size (anywhere from 2 to 200 people!)

Qi Gong Healing / Qigong Tuina

Qi Gong Healing is the name given to a treatment given by a Qi Gong practitioner. In these treatments the Qi Gong practitioner performs specific Qi Gong techniques on another person in order to treat illness. The recipient normally lies down or sometimes stands during the treatment.

This is also known as Qigong Tuina or Yin Style Tuina. The practitioner will use gentle touch, and sometimes very gentle massaging techniques or other manipulations, but the essence of the treatment is less on working with the muscles and physical body, and more on working with the Qi.

This deeply relaxing treatment is suitable for any one who does want the stronger massage of Yang style Tuina, and is widely used for chronic conditions of all kinds.

Different people feel different sensations when receiving Qi Gong Healing, but quite often a relaxing and healing heat, maybe a subtle tingling, and for some, a more definite feeling of Qi movement in the body
